Transatlantic Forum

The Transatlantic Forum (TAF) is a German-American Young Leaders conference, which annually convenes approximately 50 young professionals from business, politics, media, science and art from both sides of the Atlantic.

The goal is to build networks and personal contacts between the participants, thus strengthening and improving the German-American relationship on the “micro level”.

The TAF participants are selected with the aid of the Transatlantic Forum Advisory Board and after extensive research of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt. The Transatlantic Forums focus on topics of mutual interest such as “Leadership in the Future: Competing for Talent, Managing Cultural Differences”, “How Will Innovation Serve Society and Its Future”, “Risk Management: Preparing Ourselves for the Challenges to Come”, “How Will New Media Transform Society?” and “Inter-Cultural Cooperation in Democracies: Opportunities and Challenges”.

Since its inaugural meeting in 1995 at Lake Tegernsee, the Transatlantic Forum has taken place each year, alternately in Germany and in the United States. Previous conference locations included Charleston, South Carolina, Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria, Marina del Rey near Los Angeles, Pillnitz Castle near Dresden, and Naples, Florida.

Since 1995, a large network has developed among the more than 250 Transatlantic Forum Alumni and Alumnae. This network is supported by the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.
